Roma tells the story of a young housekeeper working for a middle-class family living in Mexico City during the 1970’s. Roma isn’t a traditional narrative but rather an unique experience of life that only a filmmaker like Alfonso Cuarón could create. Cuarón, also serving as his own cinematographer, crafts an endless stream of breathtaking images that leave you spellbound and awestruck. The chief strength of the film though lies in its ability to capture everyday life with incomparable authenticity whilst knocking you off your feet with moments of sheer jaw-dropping emotional power. Roma is an extraordinary piece of cinema from one of the world’s best filmmakers. Grade: A+
